Terms of Service
Last updated 29 October 2026
These terms apply when you use isipsafe, including the website at isipsafe.com, the API and any data you download from us (together, the "Service"). The Service is provided by Wavecentric Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under number 16276203, whose registered office is at 23a Kenilworth Gardens, Hayes, Greater London, UB4 0AY, United Kingdom ("we", "us").
By using the Service you agree to these terms, our Acceptable Use and Reporting Policy, our End User Licence Agreement for the data and software, and our Privacy Policy. If you use the Service on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you are allowed to accept these terms for it.
1. What the Service is
isipsafe is a community database of IP addresses reported for abusive behaviour. Users submit reports; we aggregate them, calculate a confidence score and make the results available through the website, the API and downloadable blocklists.
Reports are made by third parties. We do not verify each report before publishing it, and a listing is not a statement by us that the holder of an address has done anything wrong. A confidence score is an automated estimate, not a finding of fact.
2. Accounts
You can look up addresses without an account, within the anonymous allowance. Reporting, the higher lookup allowance and the blocklist need an account, which you create by signing in with an email address you control. Enterprise plans are provided under a separate written agreement. You must give accurate details, keep your API key secret and tell us promptly if you think it has been compromised. You are responsible for everything done with your key. You may hold one account per person.
Plans. Without an account you may make up to 400 lookups per 24 hours. A free account adds reporting, 10,000 lookups per 24 hours and a limited number of blocklist downloads, as described on the Pricing page. Enterprise plans have no usage limits and are provided under a separate written agreement, which also covers any commercial use described in section 6.
Public profiles. Each account has a public profile at /reporters/<address>, switched on by default. It shows your display name (your company, or your name if you give no company), any logo, website and short description you add, statistics about your reports, and your latest reports, and your reports link to it. Your email address is never shown. Public profiles can be indexed by search engines. You can switch your profile off, or change what it shows, at any time on your account page; when it is off, your reports appear as "Verified reporter".
You are responsible for what you put on your profile. Your display name, logo, website and description must be yours to use: do not impersonate another person or organisation, use someone else's trade mark without permission, or post anything unlawful, offensive or misleading. You grant us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to display that content on the Service for as long as your profile is public. We may edit, hide or remove profile content, or switch a profile off, if we believe it breaks these terms.
3. Your reports
When you submit a report you confirm that it is based on activity you observed yourself, that it is accurate to the best of your knowledge, and that it complies with the Acceptable Use Policy. You grant us a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free licence to store, aggregate, publish, distribute and sublicense the report and anything derived from it as part of the Service.
Do not put personal data in comments, other than the reported IP address itself. We may edit or remove any report, at any time, without notice.
4. Fair use and limits
We apply the rate limits described on the Pricing page and may change them. Do not try to get around them, for example by creating several accounts or rotating source addresses. Do not scrape the website; use the API.
5. Availability
The Service is free and provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We aim to keep it running smoothly but do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or available at any particular time. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of it.
6. What you may do with the data
Allowed without asking. You may look up, download and use the data from the Service (scores, reports, the blocklist and anything returned by the API) to protect networks, systems, services and applications that you own or operate, or that you operate for your employer or your clients as part of running or securing them. That includes loading it into firewalls, routers, web and mail servers, WAFs, intrusion prevention systems, SIEMs and threat intelligence platforms used for that protection.
Not allowed without our written authorisation. You may not, directly or indirectly:
- sell, resell, license, sublicense, rent or otherwise commercially exploit the data, in whole or in part;
- include the data, or anything derived from it (scores, lists, feeds, enrichments, aggregates or statistics), in a product, feed, API, database or service that you offer to other people or organisations, whether it is paid or free, and whether on its own or as part of a larger offering;
- republish or mirror the data, or let third parties download, query or access it through you;
- use the data to build, seed, train or improve a competing IP reputation, threat intelligence or blocklist product, including machine learning and AI models;
- arrange for someone else to do any of the above on your behalf.
"Indirectly" includes passing the data through an intermediary, transforming it or combining it with other data, and charging for a product or service whose value comes in part from the data. Managed service providers may use the data to protect the specific systems they manage for their clients, but may not sell or provide access to the data itself. If you are not sure whether your use is allowed, treat it as not allowed and ask us first.
Getting authorisation. We are open to commercial licences, data feeds and redistribution agreements. Contact the team through the contact form with the topic "Partnership or data feed". Only a written agreement with us grants these rights; nothing on this website, in the API or in a downloaded file does.
Using the data in breach of this section ends your licence to it immediately (see the EULA). We may also revoke your API keys, block your access and pursue any other remedy available to us.
7. Acting on the results
You decide what to do with the data. If you block, rate-limit or otherwise treat traffic differently because of a isipsafe score, that is your decision and your responsibility. IP addresses are reassigned, shared and spoofed; a listed address may be used by people who have done nothing wrong. Test any blocklist before you rely on it.
8. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from your account page. We may suspend or end your access, revoke your API key or remove your reports if you break these terms or if we reasonably believe you are abusing the Service. Sections 3, 6, 9, 10 and 12 survive termination.
9. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be limited under the law of England and Wales.
Subject to that, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, revenue, business, goodwill or data, arising from your use of the Service or its data, including losses caused by blocking or failing to block any address. Because the Service is free, our total liability to you for all claims in any twelve-month period is limited to £100.
If you are a consumer, you have legal rights that these terms do not affect.
10. Indemnity
If you are using the Service for business, you agree to compensate us for reasonable losses and costs arising from claims by third parties caused by reports you submitted in breach of these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, or by your use of the data in breach of section 6.
11. Changes
We may update these terms. If a change is significant we will say so on the website, and where we have your email address we may tell you by email. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept it.
12. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer living elsewhere in the UK you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
13. Contact
Questions about these terms: use the contact form or write to Wavecentric Ltd, 23a Kenilworth Gardens, Hayes, Greater London, UB4 0AY, United Kingdom.
