ChatGPT (custom GPT)

Give a custom GPT live IP reputation lookups through Actions and the OpenAPI spec.

A custom GPT can call APIs through Actions, described by an OpenAPI spec. isipsafe publishes one, so in a few minutes you can have an assistant that answers "is this IP safe?" with live data and explains what it found.

Create the GPT

  1. In ChatGPT, go to Explore GPTs › Create, then the Configure tab.
  2. Under Actions, click Create new action, then Import from URL:
    https://isipsafe.com/api/v1/openapi.json
The operations appear (checkIP, listReports, checkNetwork and others). You can delete the ones you do not want the GPT to use, such as reportIP.
  3. Set Authentication to API Key, Auth Type Bearer, and paste your key. Lookups also work without a key, within the anonymous allowance.
  4. For Privacy policy, use https://isipsafe.com/privacy (needed to share the GPT).
  5. Give it instructions, for example:
When the user gives you an IP address, call checkIP with maxAgeInDays 90 and verbose true.
Report the abuse confidence score, how many reports and reporters, the categories, the network
owner and country. Explain in plain words what the categories mean and whether the user should
block the address. Link to the "link" field for details. Never guess: if the API returns no
    reports, say so.

The same spec works in other tools that import OpenAPI, such as Postman, Insomnia and many AI agent frameworks.
