AbuseIPDB alternative: how isipsafe compares
isipsafe and AbuseIPDB both collect abuse reports and score IP addresses from 0 to 100. AbuseIPDB is older and receives more reports. isipsafe gives you more on a free account, including use on company systems, with no ads.
We run isipsafe, so we are not neutral. To keep this checkable, the AbuseIPDB details below come from its own public pages, read on 2 November 2026.
The short answer
isipsafe may suit you if
- You protect company or client systems and want to do it on a free account.
- You want more free lookups, or wider network checks, without paying.
- You want the whole blacklist at the score you choose, with country filters, on a free account.
- You want firewall-ready downloads such as ipset, nftables, nginx or MikroTik.
- You want your AI assistant to work with the service directly. Our MCP server is built in and in production, with nothing to install, and an assistant can report attacks and fetch the blacklist as well as look addresses up.
- You prefer a site with no ads and no requests for donations.
AbuseIPDB may suit you if
- Report volume and a longer history matter most to you.
- You want a self-serve paid plan with a public price.
- You need usage type data or a connector built for your product.

If you decide to switch
/api/v2 takes AbuseIPDB's paths, parameters and Key header, so most scripts need a new base URL and a new key:
https://api.abuseipdb.com/api/v2 → https://isipsafe.com/api/v2
Check three differences first: the blacklist defaults to a score of 75 rather than 100, usageType is always null, and scores differ between the services because they come from different reports. The switching guide has the details.
Questions
Is isipsafe better than AbuseIPDB?
It depends on what you need. isipsafe has a more generous free account and allows use on company and client systems without paying. AbuseIPDB has more report volume, a longer history and self-serve paid plans.
How does the price compare with AbuseIPDB?
Both have a free plan. AbuseIPDB's paid plans are Basic at $25 a month or $228 a year and Premium at $99 a month or $1,068 a year, with custom Enterprise pricing. isipsafe has only a free account and Enterprise, which has no public price.
Does isipsafe show ads or ask for donations?
No. There are no ads on the site and we do not ask for donations. AbuseIPDB's FAQ says it places one or two ads on certain pages to fund the service for free users, and it also accepts donations.
Is there a free alternative to AbuseIPDB?
Yes. isipsafe is free for looking up addresses, reporting attacks and downloading the blacklist to protect your own systems or those you run for your employer or clients. Building the data into a product or reselling it needs an Enterprise licence.
Will I get the same scores?
No. Each service scores addresses from its own reports with its own method, so either may know about an address the other has not seen. A score of 0 on either service does not prove an address is safe.
Can I use both?
Yes. You can report the same attacks to both and compare the results before deciding, as long as you follow each service's terms.
Does the AbuseIPDB free plan allow commercial use?
Its terms say free plans may not be used for commercial purposes and that commercial use needs a Basic or higher paid plan. They do not define commercial use, so ask AbuseIPDB if you are unsure.
